Teacher leaders serve special roles within schools. Their talent for supporting others and leading builds capacity that moves education forward. One group of teachers that may be most in need of this support are our novice teachers. They experience a unique set of challenges, navigating through transformative times in education alongside veteran teachers that feel new to the profession themselves. Unfortunately, statistics reveal a high turnover rate among new teachers due to lack of support and stressful working conditions. Join in on this collaborative discussion to make a difference and help turn these statistics around. Participants will hear from both new and experienced teachers, along with colleagues from the CSDE and CEA. Strategies to empower novice teachers to grow and remain in their profession and ultimately be inspired to become teacher leaders themselves will be shared. In addition, time will also be set aside to consider ways to set up systems of support within your own school.
